It's funny you say that....it's the same way I got into her as well. I found the VHS tape at my house sometime in the 90's and became a fan of hers. I remembered being so entranced with the "Alright" mv and the choreography for "Miss You Much." It was easy to be a fan of her because I was listening to TLC heavily around that time and my mother had both blasting all the time. I had cassette tapes I stayed playing in my walk-man.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was thinking "what the hell is she saying" from the first time, but after you learned the lyrics, you were repeating them like it was written in the Janet bible. And, let's not forget the unforgettable dance breakdown. Not every song could pass on a dance breakdown on the single, video, and album version, but "If" certainly does. Love the top two! They both have choruses to die for and either would have been a deserving winner. But I'm kind of glad it was "If." The electric guitar, the dance breakdown, Janet's vocal command—it's all perfection. That song is my jam!
