It's like Pokemon; the second stage is always ugly. Once kids are about 8, they start evolving into the "ugly" second stage. It evens out over the course of those pesky teenage years. The third stage comes too early for some people, tho - see Channing Tatum. He was absolutely gorgeous, but his third stage came way too early. Now, his third stage is aging badly.
Jaden doesn't look ugly to me, tho.
