As some of you might have seen I spent last year compiling lists of my favorite songs from 2004, which for me was one of the best (if not the best) years in music of the whole 00s decade. I really wanted to share the final result in this thread so I'll be posting sets of 20 songs with every update of my weekly countdown. If you wanna leave your comments they're appreaciated =).
200
Embrace - "Ashes"
Their best song in my opinion. I love the lyrics, they're inspiring for those moments in which you feel like you've hit rock bottom.
199
Taking Back Sunday - "A Decade Under The Influence"
Not my fav. song by TBS but decent for a start, their music has been evolving with each album.
198
McFly - "That Girl"
This is my least favorite McFly single to date, it's so generic. Their debut album had better tracks to release.
197
Switchfoot - "This Is Your Life"
I miss this band. They had amazing lyrics and this song is one example. First of two appearances.
196
Sarah McLachlan - "Stupid"
I love the video, so old school and artistic. Her vocal are really impressive aswell. This is her only appearance.
195
Counting Crows - "Accidentally In Love"
Some of you might know this song as the "Shrek 2 song" it's so catchy. The only song I know from this band.
194
Busted - "Thunderbirds Are Go"
This british band was not the best out there. Their sound was way too similar to other bands, but their videos are original.
193
Céline Dion - "Contre Nature"
She's definitely one of the best vocalists in the world. She's amazing both in english and french.
192
Liz Phair - "Extraordinary"
This song is so easy to listen to. Catchy and funny. She got lost after this song in my opinion. Her only appearance.
191
Westlife - "Flying Without Wings"
Hard to believe it but these guys defined modern pop music in UK. This is one of their best singles.
190
Chronic Future - "Time And Time Again"
This song is a grower. Back when rap and rock matched together..
189
LMC vs U2 - "Take Me To The Clouds Above"
A very unusual combination but somehow it works. So catchy.
188
Bowling For Soup - "1985"
You might think you don't know it but you probably do. Vh1 uses it a lot in their promos. It's a funny song.
187
Lostprophets - "Goodbye Tonight"
One of the first songs I liked from this band. It's not their best single though.
186
P!nk - "Last To Know"
This song was just a leftover single from a leftover era. Thank God P!nk dropped this attitude later on.
185
Dashboard Confessional - "Hands Down"
DC is the artist with the biggest gap between songs in this list. This song was too 2003 to be higher.
184
Lindsay Lohan - "Drama Queen (That Girl)"
The former Disney princess appears. This song was a guilty pleasure. Not anymore I think.
183
Alter Bridge - "Open Your Eyes"
This song is so emotional. I love the lyrics. I thought this band had potential to go mainstream.
182
Band Aid 20 - "Do They Know It's Christmas?"
I loved the 80s version and I love that they brought it back for charity in 2004. So powerful.
181
Blink 182 - "Feeling This"
This band was amazing back in this year. This song is not epic but it was enough for a lead single.
