I think most of you in here that are fans of her don't care that she is fake and manufactured because you guys are used to pop music and pop artists being manufactured. But, with Lana's case she was marketed as an indie artist without the years of credibility as an indie artist. She failed as Lizzie Grant (an attempt at a Britney Spears kind of artist), it's true because her songs as Lizzy have banished to thin air, and then was transformed to Lana Del Rey with big lips and videos that show 60s Americana. In other words not her.
The reason why this doesn't sit well with me would be the same reason if a label took a good looking person from Southern Mexico and turned him into a Norteno/Tejano singer: authenticity. Take a look at my avi. That group is called Duelo a Norteno group. They have all the characteristics of a Norteno group because they come from the north and have grown up listening to that music.
I have seen Mexican music labels try to make Tejano singers out of Mexican tv talent show winners and it pissed me off. This goes with any genre of music which is known for being organic and non-manufactured. In Lana's case Indie-Pop. Interscope fooled the indie world with Lana and her fans are eating it up.
This doesn't mean I don't like some of her songs just like I liked some of the songs from that contest winner that was manufactured as a Tejano singer, but I just can't take them serious because my conscious won't allow it.
