this mornings nominations show....jennifer lawrence looked like a grandma, and the nominations were littered with jokes.. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close for Best Pic? Max von Sydow over Albert Brooks for best supporting actor? Gary Oldman over Michael Fassbender for Best Actor? (They are jealous of how hot/hung he is) Rooney Mara over Tilda Swinton for best Actresss? Janet McTeer over Shailene Woodley for Best Supporting Actress? PUHHH-LEAAASEEE

That category wouldn't make sense; it doesn't fit in with the other categories- every award is based on quality, not genre. The Oscars are professional above everything else.

Though I believe the expansion of Best Picture nominees was partly so more non-drama films could get nods.

Yes, she was. She was nominated for Best Original Screenplay.

And there cannot be an Oscar for best comedy since the Academy isn't honoring genres, but the art of cinema in itself, which means all movies should be considered. Now, I do agree with the fact that more comedies/comedic performances should be considered for Best Picture/acting wins respectively.
