01 FOSTER THE PEOPLE
" Pumped Up Kicks " Days: 100 Peak: 1(18)
And my #1 song of 2011 is a track that I once mistaken the title as Pumped Up Kids ( ), Pumped Up Kicks. This indie band goes straight to the summit, beating early favorites to take top spot, Moves Like Jagger (#3) and Ready To Go (#2). It has been an epic year for the band not only that this song won as the favorite alternative song of 2011 and favorite new artist but their two other tracks all landed inside the top 40.
This is a song that took me a while to appreciate. I found it really peculiar at first listen, I was like why is this charting in most of the personal countdowns in the YTT section? Soon, I realized how epic and remarkable this song really is. Hence, spending 18 days at the top of my daily countdown and retiring inside the top 3. This song may not have the most days at #1 but its fresh appeal every time I give it a listen is the main reason why it landed in this precious spot. This is indeed one of the songs that I will never get tired listening to.
Congratulations Foster The People! They officially followed the footsteps of Kris Allen’s Live Like We’re Dying (2009’s #1 song) and Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream, (last year’s #1 song) for topping this year’s chart.
