However, predictable as it may be, I knew from the start what to put at my #1. Hands-down, no competition, far and away the best song of 2011. Are y'all ready?

1. Lupe Fiasco- The Show Goes On

Anyone who knows me at all knows I stan hard for Lupe, and I was incredibly happy to see him have this huge year, get the biggest hit of his career, and gain all the recognition he deserves. However, none of these were the reason I decided to put the epic "The Show Goes On" at #1. Lupe is like a breath of fresh air in hip-hop nowadays, with all these no-talent rappers writing terrible songs about meaningless ****, when you find a song with such a deep meaning and so much emotion put into it it just blows you away. That is the first thing I thought when I heard "The Show Goes On". Hearing him rap about all the struggles he's been through, and how he has come out on top, and now motivating everyone by telling them they can do the same, it brought a tear to my eye. Lupe is one of the few rappers out there with actual TALENT, unlike some others I won't mention. Another thing I love so much about him is that when he became popular, he didn't sell out and make music just to make money. He does it because he loves doing it, and that really came through to me in this song. My favorite lyric is the one where he says "brown grass or green grass, picket fence or barbed wire, never ever put them down you just lift your arms higher". It just really speaks to you by saying no matter where you come from, you can be what you want to be if you just put your mind to it. No one else in the rap game right now has the level of pure skill and artistic genius that Lupe demonstrated in this song, and that's why it's my #1 of 2011.

I may be back with another countdown before the forum closes, and I may not, so you all will just have to stay tuned. But for now, that's it.

Leave your praise for King Lupe below.
