Nope. Imo this album was doomed from her previewing BTW at the VMAs. It sounded like a revolutionary ballad and ended up being an overall terrible song

Everything started well but with "Judas" release, underperformance, and "The Edge of Glory" release it all went downhill.

Tons. Looking back, I don't think anyone expected the era to play out like it did. Even after Judas underperformed, the album still sold 1 million first week and The Edge of Glory was looking to be a huge hit. The era didn't begin to feel like a major disappointment until You and I rolled around.

The whole BTW-Judas controversy was just too much to the general public to handle ( + the fact that the music wasn't "friendly" either)

Also, She should've done GOOD videos in the 1st Place. The era would've been so much bigger.

OMG what you saying gurllll. TTWE was leaked at HIAM's peak and was forced to be released early because of it. But it still managed to peak at #3 and became Britney's biggest radio single before IWG.

So basically people didn't like Gaga's music in BTW and Beyonce's version of the Major Laser song so they didn't buy into that. Simple as that.

The only reason why BTW (single) went number 1 was because of all the hype building up from when she announced the title of her album at the Grammys two years ago.

TEOG was the only decent song that could be played on radio. It could have also been her biggest hit if she played her cards right and released a "Firework" type of video to go with that song.

Not really. I never would have bothered with Lady Gaga had BTW been her first album.

But the era could have been less disastrous if every video she released hadn't been ****. So I guess in that regard, yes.

That's actually a really interesting way to look at it. I mean, all this talk of BTW being experimental and pushing the sound of what you would expect from a pop artist are all true. However most people pick the most "commercial" of the album for singles. This makes sense logically since it's safe, but does anybody think she would have succeeded by releasing the "weirder" tracks as singles?
