Is the Stupid Hoe criticism helping Nicki's promo?
Regardless of whether you actually like the song or the video, she's definitely got people talking about her. The video premiered two days ago & already has almost 5 & a half million views. Everyone is putting in their two cents, & even making parodies. Something tells me Nicki knew what she was doing when she released it. Release something to get people talking & they'll be waiting for what she does next. She has the Superbowl with Madonna, who herself has been in the headlines for controversy Feb. 5th. Then the Grammys Feb. 12th, & overseas dates leading up to the release date. Not to mention we're still getting a RIM video, a new single, & as she said lots of surprises. I'm thinking those first week sales are gonna be crazy.

Basically! Nicki's not dumb she has people buzzing and trust the same people who commented&disliked the video will be checking for the official single
No. That's working off the fallacy that any publicity is good publicity. The most talked about song of 2011 didn't go top ten, because it was famous for being awful. Nicki is damaging her own career by alienating pretty much every section of her casual fanbase.
I could see if this way like the official single then I could see the hate but this is a promo single intended to be fun, people are taking it way too serious

But I thought she already did that with Pink Friday. It was a pop/hip-hop album that was completely different than what she'd done before. We see where that got her despite the negative criticism.

The public doesn't see it like that. It's a new song from a popstar with a video on vevo. It's no different from Super bass or Fly as far as their concerned, except it's awful.

the irony in this all is that stupid hoe is actually performing well on urban radio and itunes

And what does Stupid Hoe do? It alienates her Hip-Pop audience with a song which is an...acquired taste...and It alienates her Hip-hop audience who might have otherwise enjoyed the song with the "wack"-est, "pop"-iest video she's done yet.

The whole thing is this isn't a pop record! Turn Me On is already appeasing the pop crowd

Stupid Hoe is urban tho. The whole album is essentially urban. She's going back to the fanbase that got her where she is. Keep in mind, this is a promo single. I assure her other material will be miles better.
To be honest, I think Turn Me On will probably cancel out some of the backlash that she's getting from this, since it's pretty much 100% pop and people are loving it, based on its sales already.
Don't like the song, I'm kinda started to stop checking things she's releasing and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.
I really don't think this is helping her unless she comes out next with a super great song that will make all of those who are questioning her now to like her back.

Where is the urban? sounds like a dated pop track that even Gwen stefani would never...its quite terrible.. The mess isn't the actual song...its the influence in the video that is upsetting and leaves one feeling confused and tired.
