They did that with the iPod Touch last year, decreased the price of the 8GB and both iPod Nanos. And no, that's not a "dumb idea". When the iPhone 4S announced and the iPhone 4 price dropped, did that stop people buying the iPhone 4S? Nope. iPhone 4S ended up being a HUGE hit. They're obviously lowering the price for a reason since the iPad 3 will have a significant upgrade (I don't know how big, since iPad 2 was already a masterpiece).
