Oh and isn't 2007 in the digital era?

Well you'd have to take in impact/overall success if you really want to compare to other songs. Especially those that don't benefit from the higher sales of today. And in that case, "Big Girls Don't Cry" is the closest and in today's climate would be at the same level/higher (since it was huge worldwide) than "E.T." That's all he was trying to explain. And of course, Katy benefited from the Kanye remix. Not in a negative way, of course, it was a great tactic to sell a lot of singles. And he said "later in the digital era", aka sales are bigger today than in 2007.
Anyway..
CONGRATS. This was my ****, and I just loved Katy's slayage this era. Admittedly only up until the most current single. I want "TD" to get here some day.
