It's because she didn't do well with her latest effort... He's blaming her "lyric superiority" as the reason why the public ignored her songs as far as radio airplay goes...
Where did I say any of this? The only reason I mentioned Beyoncé is because she makes uptempo pop songs and is one of the FEW pop artists that were praised for her (lyrics) in 2011 across the board with songs like Countdown.
Meh. The majority of pop music has always been meaningless and generic. If you're looking for deep and meaningful music, you need to search for another genre. You won't hear it on your radio, you won't see it on the charts, and you won't hear it in clubs. Moreover, "deep music" with lyrical content isn't completely irrelevant or a thing of the past, you just won't see it being supported by the masses.
It is so tired to talk with people who know nothing about songwriting. Lyrics is not the only part about songwriting. she is credited in these songs and rightfully so.
About the lyrics she has written, she is not the strongest lyricist but she is not bad. These songs are the prime example of that.
Let's not talk about things we don't know. If Warren was not having it like you say she wouldn't be working with her again on ASIB.
Both those songs, especially Survivor are horrible lyrically. It's clear she wrote them herself. But both songs sound great to the ear. The melodies in DIL are amazing. That's what makes it a beautiful song.
You sound more like you're reading into things than I am. I stated my opinions and you got upset. If I was playing the victim than I would be reporting bitches left and right like I'm sure people are doing to me right now. Like I said, if you don't want to continue this discussion then just remove your mouse from my quote button.
what opinion sweetie? you were wrong in not including, melodies, vocal productions, etc. in the songwriting process. you were corrected. accept it honey and live with it

It is funny how the simple fact that you mentioned her in the OP prevent them to have a sensible discussion on a good topic.

How exactly didn't I include them? Because I used the word "song writer" instead of "lyricist"? Its pretty clear what I meant hun since you were so kind to correct me on it. Plus I praised her for her melodies so I have no idea how exactly I didn't include it.
The lyrics in pop songs have become pretty dumb, but don't make me post the lyrics from 4

I think that's enough.
So before you make a post trying to degrade the lyrics of pop songs, while glorifying your fave numerous times, maybe you should take a look at the lyrics from your own fave first.
No hard feelings, just don't drag others while glorifying your fave when there's no reason to.

And they are not horrible, they might not be excellent but they were written by a 19 year old girl at most. And they are the proof she is indeed a lyricist. But I respect your opinion on her lyrics being bad, it is your prerogative.
No, I don't think that lyrics are becoming a "thing" of the past -- they never will. We Found Love is mostly music because it features the producer Calvin Harris, the chorus part is his feature. If you look at the current Top 10 in the US and the UK, all of the songs have the classic verse / choruses follow with different lyrics and not repeatable verses like Sexy & I Know It and We Found Love. Both of these are mainly dance records, not Pop. The same can be said about "Without You" and "Turn Me On", but again, the focus on SAIKT and WFL is the dance-break in the chorus and not the catchy lyrics in the chorus.
(look at Stronger, Young Wild & Free, Domino, Titanium, Paradise, etc...)
Unless you're talking about the quality of the lyrics, that's another case.
I know... It's freaking pop music... It's not supposed to be deep meaningful lyrics. If you want to listen to deep meaningful lyrics go listen to Norah Jones.
Says who though? Madonna makes pop music and Ray Of Light is more than what's on the surface.
the way i see it, dance music is just a temporary fad right now and it will eventually fade, along with the numerous house songs with barely any lyrics.
however its not to say that we won't still have songs with poor lyrics. we have always and will always have songs like that becoming smashes. the public does not care about how meaningful a song is, they just care about how it sounds as a whole. as long as songs are catchy or sound good, they will be successful and the public will buy into it.

In my second quote I was talking more about her song writing now. If you compare the demos and original versions of some songs on 4 and I Am to the final versions, there isn't much difference lyrically. But yea, thanks for not attacking me. lol
Actually, I was listening to "Domino" the other day and I thought how actually it has more lyrics than a normal Pop hit.
That's another song that got me thinking when I made this thread. Everyone kept saying she was a Katy clone so I decided to listen to her music and see what I thought. She writes great pop songs without losing her artistic integrity and just making something to jump around to.

She wrote all of Destinys Child biggest hits back when they couldn't afford songwriters to give them music, and she wrote Dangerously In Love (the song) when she was about 16.

Oh she said she doesn't write lyrics for all her songs anymore she participates the most on instruments, on harmonies (her strongest point) and arrangements.
