It's just a whole bunch of viruses and mutations spreading around the world or something. Umbrella is behind the whole thing and they just want to cover up their mess. The main characters are trying to uncover Umbrella's ever-changing plots, and different main villains are trying to take over the world. That's pretty much the whole thing in a nutshell...
