The 2012 NAACP Image Award nominations have been announced and new mommy, Beyonce, leads the bunch the in recording categories.
Beyonce scores four total nominations in categories that range from “Outstanding Female Artist” to “Outstanding Album” for her critically-acclaimed latest set, 4. Her Columbia labelmate, British soul singer Adele, lands two noms: one in the “Outstanding Song” group for her smash Someone Like You and another for the song’s music video.
Like Adele, r&b/pop prince Chris Brown picks up a pair of nominations. He’ll face competition from Bruno Mars, Cee-Lo Green and more in the “Outstanding Male Artist” category and he’ll fight it out with the Mighty B in the ”Outstanding Album” category for his album F.A.M.E..
Touring mates Diggy Simmons and pop/r&b group Mindless Behavior will go head to head in the “Outstanding New Artist” category. Both artists appeared on the revamped Scream Tour: The Next Generation (NXG) last year.
Other acts receiving multiple nominations include Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson and Jill Scott.
