They've sold over 1.5 million copies off of Femme Fatale with minimum promotion and for any artist those sales are solid and Britney doesn't really have anything left to prove. Katy Perry is at the peak of her career and is doing what Britney was doing 10 years ago boo. So please let's not pretend that Katy is this record shattering beast of a pop star who's doing what nobody has done before.
Thankyou.

so far she is still breaking records :P

It's because of 'Criminal.' It killed this era. It was released for the fans who wanted a ballad, and she decided to take a risk, and release it. It wasn't promoted at all in addition to being supported by a flagged, censored video, which was an iTunes exclusive for the first five days or release, and was later instantly blocked following its upload on YouTube. Even the idiots from the British Parliament have criticized her for promoting gun violence and glamorizing gangs. The video has received raves from critics, with many critics naming it the Video of the Year as well as one of her all-time best, and that's all that matters.

Britney doesn't make promo and so what? It's her problem, we're not going to bring Katy's sales down to defend a lazy artist, she could perform, but she doesn't want, she deserves to flop unfortunately.
And bitch please, the Grammys (moreover Grammys = ****) isn't the topic.
|
No, first week = general public. Do you really think 250,000 Britney fans rushed to stores to buy Femme Fatale? And I never said over-all sales didn't represent the public so you can stop putting words in my mouth hun.
Yeah, it's Britney's fault. But it's STILL a factor lmao whether it's her fault or not. If she traveled the world sporting zany hair colours, married a famous comedian/actor and absolutely raped every song off of her album for a #1 she could ~ and you know she could. Her profile as a celebrity is much larger than Katy's. So let's NOT.

So now we have to blame artists for making promo?

Katy just isn't the type of artist who will sell albums in huge numbers,it's her fault, there's a reason for it.But I think I've figured out that already months and months ago.Now let's get back on topic.

Duca you seem a little insecure.
Teenage Dream era is huge, Femme Fatale had poor sales, poor promotion and it's her fault. Katy is not less succesful because your fave is lazy and doesn't promote.
Bye.

105+ million albums sold, 200+ million records sold, the most influential female artist since Madonna, revolutionized pop music four times, massive tours, receiving lifetime achievement awards for her contributions to music, won an award at every show known to man, critically acclaimed, half of her discography - both albums and singles - are considered pop classics. All in just 13 years. You were saying?

It's not an excuse. It's a fact. She's a legend. If she wants to throw out an album, not promote it and still remain successful/relevant then she can.

Of course, the 1st week is mainly the fan base who goes to bouy the album of their fave.

Fact is first week sales do mean a lot because they reflect an artists popularity with the public, standard.

Are you kidding me? What's this? You implied that the 1st week represents the popularity with the public, so what's about the weeks which follow the week of release?
