This article gives LMFAO an absurd amount of credit. The Black Eyed Peas, more than any other mainstream act, are responsible for this supposed revitalization of Chicago house and Detroit techno. But really, I don't see the popularity of farty BEP and LMFAO tunes as some indication that these American-born sounds (and I think most people would scoff at the idea that their music has any relation to the Chicago house of yore) are truly on the rebound. The opportunity for such artists to even reference these early genres only became available as the larger dance music trend was ushered in on the backs of other mainstream artists who welcomed European influence into their music. That European influence isn't going away, and it's as much a part of the LMFAO sound as this "uniquely American sound."
The oversight here being that French house, which borrows heavily from disco, has more funk than anything that comes from LMFAO's camp.
