07 LADY GAGA
"Born This Way" Days: 100 Peak: 1(11)
Ending up on the right track is Lady Gaga’s most successful single in terms Billboard Hot 100 chart run, Born This Way. The song really showcased Gaga’s creativity not only in terms of the song but the music video as well (who could not forget that music video?). Her last charting entry lands inside the top ten but just behind another female artist who also overshadowed her as the favorite female artist of 2011. Lady Gaga is indeed one of a kind, hopefully her upcoming singles will be as successful as this.
06 KATY PERRY feat. KANYE WEST
" E.T. (Remix) " Days: 100 Peak: 1(9)
...and the highest charting female artist is Katy Perry with a song and a music video that made me look up to her even more. Despite not landing at the top this year, she still managed to win the favorite female artist again, beating artists such as Adele and Lady Gaga. I like both versions of the song but I think the one with Kanye is way better. 2011 is indeed one of Katy’s biggest year, can she have an even bigger one this 2012? With her very supportive label, I am positive that she will have one.
05 PANIC! AT THE DISCO
" The Ballad Of Mona Lisa" Days: 100 Peak: 1(12)
Finishing 5th from the very tight top 5 is the band’s first of two entries which is their lead single from Vices and Virtues, The Ballad of Mona Lisa. I have always been a fan of this band. I find their songs and music videos really daring and inventive thus setting them apart from other artists from the same genre. This song peaked at #1 in my countdown and stayed there for 12 days. I hope they can still have at least one more single from that awesome album and hopefully that track will impact POP radio.
