Besides, BTW already did what it needed to do for a lead single. The only way I can see this continuing to be a problem is if Gaga's camp continues to say stupid **** against Madonna.
With Lana, she's been the internet phenomenon for a while now. If the performances were as bad as everyone is saying they are (I haven't viewed them), then it's sure to be a disappointment to people who have heard wonderful things of this girl and leave them wondering what the big deal is.

this. i haven't seen lana's SNL performances either. but i am reading a lot of bad press on them. poor girl, she just needs to give better performances the next time she's got a live televised gig. but until then, she'll be hearing crap from people who watched & hated the SNL bit.

Gaga. Those scathing Madonna comments were like the final nail in the Born This Way era. Gaga will be watched extra carefully from now on because Madonna is in the spotlight. If the initial Madonna comparisons were overbearing back in 11' they'll be worse now because Madonna is at the forefront. Madonna will be actively promoting her album. That puts Gaga in a dangerous position because the media will be out for blood, like vultures with a carcass for further drama. It would be best for her (Gaga) to completely dissociate herself from Madonna comparisons with her tour and her future musical endeavors.
Lana's not that big of a deal especially if she rebounds with her performances that are scheduled later on this coming week.

i don't know if Madge's comment(s) were/was meant as shade and quite frankly, i couldn't care less. she was asked a question, let the woman give her opinion. i still love Gaga & very much enjoy Madge's music. that being said, everyone was waiting on Madonna to talk about gaga. so of course the media is ******** itself/having a field day; they really don't have anything else relevant to talk about. (last week it was all about baby Blue Ivy Carter's birth. this week they'll be looking for something else to pay the bills with). and is anyone really surprised (by the comments)?! tbh, Madge's comments are compliments compared to the **** i hear/read on a daily basis on twitter; from little monsters (no less), when they're on their rag/gaga doesn't do what they want at that exact moment. ask Nicole lol. gaga's been dragged worse (by Nicole & other people) or is almost always being ripped on for one thing or another. or maybe i'm just a jaded stan who ONLY notices when someone actually says something nice about gaga (without kissing her ass *coughs* Perez Hilton) and means it. to me this week will simply be noted down as: And Madonna finally adds her two cents. (i actually agree with Madge on that 1 comment, imo BTW lyrics were a nice thought but horrible. gaga can and has written better).
so tough week for us (monsters+Gaga)? i think no. it doesn't change what people think about gaga. i mean really, who loves/hates her more/less because of what Madge said?! + btw was already released, charted, (the album) sold 10mil+, & is Grammy nominated. had Madge made these comments
AFTER the BTW single was released, then maybe things would have been different.
however, now that Madge is getting ready to release her album: IF her album doesn't do well or if BTW (album) does better than hers, you bet the media+hardcore gaga stans will come back and throw these comments in her face. so if LG is walking on a high wire so is Madge. because people will obviously be expecting her to **** on everyone (like Beyonce last year). her title as The Queen of Pop means she has higher expectations than all the rest. you nailed it right when you said the press is full of vultures looking for blood, whose blood it is doesn't matter. they'll throw Madge, Gaga, or whoever under the bus regardless. if they didn't spare Beyonce with RTW, they sure as hell won't spare Madge if she doesn't deliver.
