Hey all, I'm having computer problems and it SUCKS. I can't hear anything. Youtube is one of my favorite sites -- video works but no sound is coming out. I have a Media Center PC, and sounds not working either. Pretty much nothing works but my Windows Media Player and RealPlayer. Basically, I have to open everything through WMP just to hear sounds and it sucks. Anyone know what's going on?
Try running some sound tests by going Start > Run. Enter in dxdiag and then click OK. Something should pop up where you would go to Sound to do some sound tests. If a step fails, as in during a test you cannot hear something it asks you about, you might have to reinstall the sound drivers.
It is also possible the default device is set incorrectly so you might want to check that.
ke, the Microsoft Synthesizer is working! I could hear sounds when tested.
The "Microsoft MIDI Mapper [Emulated]" did not work when tested. The "Microsoft GD Wavetable SW Synth [Emulated]" did not work as well. Also there is a "Default Port Acceleration: Not Available." I should get this checked out...
Yeah, this is exactly what happened to my computer. I picked it up from the repair store; they had to replace the motherboard, whatever that is. My speakers are connected, the volume is on, and I can't hear anything. I don't know what's wrong.
