Justin Bieber dolls were one of the hottest Christmas gifts this past holiday season. Just how popular were they? Well, last season, Bridge Direct, the primary manufacturer of Bieber dolls reported sales in excess of 4 million dolls and revenue in excess of $100 million. This year? A
lower bound estimate of 5 million dolls means even more money.
In fact, with an average retail price of $35, the dolls are likely to have brought in
more than $175 million DOMESTICALLY this holiday season not including the many accessories that the company offers.
As a basis for comparison, Adele, who topped off a phenomenal year murdering the competition in the recording industry, sold in the neighborhood of 17 million albums worldwide. Assuming an average retail price of $11, we're talking in the neighborhood of $187 million worldwide. Now, we'll try to forget that Bieber needs his accessories.
Justin Bieber dolls are well on their way to becoming the
best-selling dolls in the history of the company. Previous high-points for the company include Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana dolls, Britney Spears dolls, and the all-time best-selling Spice Girls dolls which grossed more than $300 million.
If conservative early estimations are any indication, the Biebs has a big chance to topple the SG from the number one position once the final numbers are in from this holiday season.
So how is Bieber faring now?
The Bieber dolls are still sold out at nearly every major online and physical retailer nationwide. So what other options are there? Bieber offers a wide variety of accessories ranging from customizable hairstyles, tour buses and apparel for his dolls, but don't get too excited, because major retailers are sold out of those as well. It's okay though, there are always bedspreads, paper plates, fingernail polish, perfume, DVDs, CDs, posters and t-shirts flying off the shelves for you to pick up.
