Adele took the world by storm with her blockbuster second album, '21'. It has sold a total a 15 million copies worldwide since its release in January and spawned two #1 smash hits: 'Rolling In the Deep' and 'Someone Like You'. Due to the astonishing success of this release, Adele was recently nominated for 6 Popularity/Pointless/Pretentious Awards.
All of that is irrelevant. '21' is one of the highest quality pop albums released this year. Few pop girls can come close to her songwriting, her production, her vocal talent or her ability to convey emotion. Adele is like the non-dancing Beyonce. My favorites from '21' are 'Don't You Remember', 'Rumor Has It' and 'He Won't Go'. 'He Won't Go' is a mid-tempo R&B song about knowing that your partner isn't about to leave you and that you won't leave them, so you should just stop trying. 'Rumor Has It' is the second track on this album and is full of heavy drums, choral singing and tambourines. It reminds me of a song I would hear in church. (JeremyALD was right. Adele is Black.) I also love that the lyrics can be applied to any (stan) situation.
"You are delusional." Bless your soul. You got your head in the clouds.
"I heard you were talking about me. Now Imma drag you." You made a fool out of me and now I bringing you down.
"She's faking her pics." She, she ain't real.
"Beyonce is the ultimate dancer, singer and live performer. So what? That doesn't mean she's better than my fave." SURE, she has it all, but baby is that really what you want?
'Don't You Remember' is EVERYTHING. This song really makes me feel some type of way.
DON'T YOU REMEMBEEEEE-EEEEEERRR-EEEEEERR? DON'T YOU REMEMBEEEEE-EEEEEERRR-EEEEEERR THE REASON YOU LEFT MEEEEEEEEE BEEEEEEFFOOOORRRE? BABY PLEASE REMEMBEEEEEEEEER MEEEE ONCE MOOOOOORRRE!
When will I see you again?
#2 Best Single of 2011
Beyonce's Husband & His Friend - "N*ggas In Paris"
The video for 'Countdown', the third official single from Teh King's latest album, '4', is one of her best. The biggest theme in this video is dance. Dance icons are paid homage to in nearly every scene. In the beginning of this video, a very pregnant Beyonce is seen in black leggings, a black turtle neck, white socks, black loafers and a black wig a la Audrey Hepburn. During the first verses, a less pregnant Beyonce, still in an Audrey Hepburn costume, is seen in a dance studio with a small band and 4 dancers backing her. In the final verse of the song, Beyonce imitates the ballet 'Rosas Danst Rosas' by German (?) choreographer, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Now, Miss Anne Teresa was a bit pressed that Teh King jacked her ****, but she really shouldn't have been. Beyonce was only paying her respects to her. Also, Ms. Keersmaeker is a wonderful choreographer. It is quite possible that the 25 million people who have seen this video would have never experienced her work if it wasn't for Queen Bey.
It doesn't seem very likely at the present moment, but if Countdown does eventually rebound and become the smash I prayed for it to be, this video will become iconic.

#1 Best Live Performance of 2011
Beyonce - "End of Time" Live at Glastonbury
This performance was part of a historical concert. Beyonce was the first woman to headline the UK Glastonbury Festival in 20 years and the FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO HEADLINE GLASTONBURY EVER. BIG ****ING DEAL!!!!
Beyonce performed 'End of Time' maybe 4 or 5 times this year. This is the best one she did. The dancers looked so good, the vocals were astounding and the stage was the icing on the cake. EOT will be released as a single this year and it will be promoted and it will smash. End of.

#2 Favorite ATRL Member of 2011 KoreanDream
Maya is one of the best this web site has to offer. Time and time again she had demonstrated kindness, maturity, intelligence and friendliness when everyone else was acting a damn fool. Maya has always been there for me whenever I was getting dragged. She was always there to comfort, support and defend me. She is one of the most honorable people I've ever come across on the internet. She is a great representation of the Rihanna Navy too.
I don't know why anyone would have something negative to say about her, but who ever does needs to
This is the user review I wrote for this album on Metacritic:
Quote:
'4' is Beyonce's best album to date. '4' surpasses 'Dangerously In Love', 'B'Day' and 'I Am... Sasha Fierce' by LEAPS AND BOUNDS. The best R&B album of 2011. Reminiscent of 70's, 80's and 90's R&B and soul, '4' is a throwback to the days when live instrumentation, brilliant lyricism and exceptional vocal ability ruled American airwaves instead of auto-tuned, electro-pop, dance crap. Every song is beautifully written, produced and sang. '4' is mostly about monogamy; after listening to this, you will know for a fact that she loves her husband with all her heart. The album is diverse; '4' consists of powerful ballads like '1+1' and 'I Miss You', smooth old-school R&B jams like 'Party' and 'Rather Die Young', rousing girl power anthems like 'Best Thing I Never Had' and 'Run the World (Girls)' (the latter, I am embarrassed to like because I'm a guy) and club bangers like 'Countdown' and 'End of Time'. Beyonce flaunts her astonishing vocal talent on tracks like 'Start Over', 'Love On Top' and 'I Was Here'. The very best songs on '4', however, are the bonus tracks included on the Target Deluxe Edition. 'Lay Up Under Me', a funk-filled song pulled straight out of the disco, 'Schoolin' Life' a fun rock-tinged song reminiscent of Prince and the slow and sexy 'Dance for You' enhance the overall album greatly. Get out of your computer chair, go to the nearest music store and buy '4' now. It is worth every dollar you spend and then some.

One of the best songs on '4'. I had so much hope for this song. I wished that it would reach the Top 10 before New Years. Searching for this song's stats is what brought me to ATRL. Sadly, this single is flopping. I don't blame Beyonce. She was pregnant and couldn't promote it properly. It's a shame because it could've smashed. I hope that it can rebound. I hope.
#1 Best Video of 2011
Beyonce - "Run The World (Girls)"
The video for 'Run The World (Girls)', the ill-fated first single from Teh King's critically acclaimed fourth alum, '4', is EPIC. The video is set in a post apocalyptic highway underpass (). Girls are taking over the world. The Beyonce Revolution has begun. The choreography was inspired by Mozambican 'Togo' and taught to Beyonce by three African men she saw in a youtube video. This video won a Video Music Award for Best Choreography. I have tried and failed many a time to imitate these soul-stirring dance moves.
I mean...
Beyonce's dresses, hair, shoes and costumes in the video were FLAWLESS. Powerful, independent women are the HOTTEST thing in the world to me. This video has been the inspiration for some of my favorite GIFs.
Example:
This video was viewed 116,596,134 times on youtube. If only music video views contributed to chart position.
Beyonce shat once again this year. Beyonce released her most critically acclaimed album to date, '4'. '4' debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and remained at the top for a second week. This album has yet to have spawned a smash hit, yet it has managed to sell 1 million copies in the United States and 2.3 million copies worldwide since its release in June. That's awesome considering a couple of albums that have spawned multiple #1's and Top 10's have yet to pass the 1 million mark. Beyonce has been pregnant since before her album was released, yet it has not slowed her down one bit. 2012 will be another great year for Teh King. This album will attain the success we all wished it would, Beyonce will film another blockbuster movie and her baby will effortlessly **** on Suri Cruise.
Ms. Kendra is my favorite ATRLer this year. Kendra is just so kind, funny and exciting to talk to. She is one of the most educated Rihanna stans I've ever heard of. She is not delusional, ignorant or pressed at all. Now, I don't mean to spill her tea all over the mat, but Kendra is sick with sickle-cell anemia. Drugs she has been taking to ease the pain of her disease have damaged her liver and she said that she would be going in to surgery at the beginning of this year. She also said that she may wind up needing a liver transplant. Pray of her. Pray that the surgery goes well, that she recovers and that she returns to posting here and giving us LIFE. She is very brave and determined to be healthy and live a long life. Her positive attitude should be an inspiration to all of us.
