The 25th annual Kids' Choice Awards will be hosted by none other than the Fresh Prince himself: Will Smith. A multiple winner at this awards show himself over the years, Smith will take over the position held by Jack Black last year to the highest ratings ever for the program giving him quite an impressive act to follow.
Smith is one of Hollywood’s best known dads and considered a role model by many to both kids and to parents alike. In spite of tabloid rumors back in the summer, his marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith remains one of the strongest and longest running in Hollywood, and he appears to be a caring and attentive dad to his three kids. It’s rare to see a star who appeals to quite as broad an audience and age range as Will Smith.
Of course, Smith has plenty going on to promote with this television appearance, including the third installment of the Men in Black films and is producing a co-starring vehicle for his son Jaden called One Thousand, A.E.
The Kids Choice Awards which airs on Nickelodeon is like no other awards show on television. After all, its primary audience is slightly less than mature. It’s well known for messy fun and hilarious gags appealing to the younger set, and is probably considerably more entertaining than the endless speeches of certain other awards shows. According to Deadline's announcement of Smith’s selection to host, this year’s event is expected to be “the biggest, loudest, messiest spectacle in the show’s 25-year history”. And really, who doesn’t want to see Will Smith get slimed? I know I do.
This year’s Kids' Choice Awards will air on March 31st at 8 pm ET/PT on Nickelodeon.
