Kelly Clarkson was the winner of the first season of "American Idol," the prize for which was a million-dollar RCA record contract. Her breakthrough album Breakaway allowed to establish herself as a leading pop/rock artists and spawned spawned several big hits, including "Since U Been Gone," "Breakaway," " Behind These Hazel Eyes," and "Walk Away." and even went on to win her 2 Grammy Awards. Despite her successes, many just aren't here for KC.
I'm SO tired of Kelly girl-power man-hating independent anthems. I hate pop-rock in general. She needs to stop fighting her label and make club anthems AND lovely ballads.
I have always felt that she is just a cute voice. Her body of work is particularly underwhelming. She doesn't know how to be a pop star with killer hooks (sauf Since U Been Gone), and she doesn't know how to be a rock star, either. I am not calling her fake, because if there is a real chick in the music biz, that is Miss Independent herself, but she should accept her place as a pop singer, play with it and leave the writing to the professionals. I would like to hear a fun song from her, not the same angry bitch she conveys in almost all of her songs.
I loved her during 'Breakaway' and I don't think I've jumped ship at all, but my interest in her has gradually declined. There is only so much of the pop-rock stuff she can do until you know what to expect from her. 'Mr. Know It All' was surprisingly, a little different but it had something missing. I love 'Stronger' and I think it's a great album, but she really hasn't reinvented herself in like, 5 years. I want her to do something a bit different to captivate me again.
