Petra's not great on outdoor hardcourts but I don't see why. If the speed of the court was the issue then she wouldn't have had great results on clay, but she seems very comfortable on that surface. I think with a few adjustments she'll be able to adapt to hardcourts. She has to. The vast majority of tournaments are played on them.

And I dunno about Kvitova. Maybe the clay is so slow that it's good for her to be able to set up her shots effectively and grass is so fast that it's good for her to be able to just blitz through opponents with her low-bouncing shots, and outdoor hardcourts is just an annoying mixture where she can't do either as well as she'd like.

What do you think how Kaia will fare in AO? She won Brisbane so effortlessly like a week ago.

I guess Murray could win a slam if he somehow flukes his way to a final against someone with as little self-belief as himself, but the odds of that happening aren't good.

I see Kaia getting to the QFs at best, sure she displayed outstanding tennis but you can't read too much into a week 1 win at Brisbane; the top players are very cautious and just want to get enough matches under their belts.

Don't rule out Schiavone taking out the Australian Open either. She has been playing really well recently.

I don't like Serena. I don't think she's good for the tour. She never commits to a full schedule. We'll see what happens, she was playing close to her best tennis during the US hardcourt season and then choked in the final. Stosur played well, but Serena never showed up. She's obviously going to be the favourite to win the title based on her accomplishments, but I think the tide is turning. 30 is old in tennis.

To be honest, I think the tour needs to try to become more balanced. I'd much prefer if the grass and claycourt season were longer. I also really miss the European indoor season at the end of the year. It's been reduced significantly.

I'm a WS stan and stan for her now too. I used to hate her back in the day, but her dry and sarcastic humour slays me now and I can't help but root for her after all her problems.

Yeah, I like Vika but she couldn't be more basic if she tried. People only think she's aggressive because of the grunt, but she's such a grinder. I was watching the Jankovic match yesterday, and even tho JJ is so awful nowadays, even she was still hitting the ball much harder than Azarenka.
