I think a lot of people pretend to take it more seriously than they actually do. I doubt much of anyone here really gives a **** what others think of their faves, they just want to get lost in the stan world. People pick their faves and then they duke it out online because it's fun. And there's nothing wrong with that, so join them or leave them but don't act like you're better than them.

I know I shouldn't be saying this, being a 2011 batch myself, but WTH with these new members thinking they know it all about ATRL. Lurking for months and being a member for years, posting regularly and getting to know some of the people here are NOT the same.

I like ATRL a lot (way too much, I would say), but I know my place, and I know that I shouldn't be starting **** with these"What has ATRL become?" kind of meltdowns. It is what it is. I think if you or anyone else has something against the way things are here, there are countless of forums where you can sign up and have a happy life. If what you like is to make rude comments about certain artists, then go to ThatKoolAid or whatever that mess is called and set up your tent over there.

I can easily go to forums maybe more music oriented or with older posters like Pulse or Goldderby, but they're boring as hell, so I'd rather stay here, because I choose, but I just cannot expect ATRL to change for me.

I think it might be appropriate if we just let this thread die now. I shouldn't of posted it in the first place. I just had an opinion from what I have witnessed (even though I haven't been here for that long) - and I wanted to share it. Obviously, people have taken offense to the thread and the fact that I've only been on this forum since September 2011 makes it worse, so I'm willing to just forget about it now. I should of just kept this to myself.

The fact that someone would get personally offended if I said their favorite artist isn't selling a lot of albums or isn't the biggest thing in the world is frightening. Psychological help should be found.

To be fair, it's not just ATRL though, it's all boards. But one thing that bothers me about these boards is that the rules protect this kind of behavior.

In my opinion, it is not that serious. I see it as passionate fans, as much as, say, football (soccer) fans arguing who is better, Pele or Maradona (if you follow soccer, you would understand how endless that argument is).

In my case, I just laugh about the whole thing, but I do give you that some people take being a fan way too seriously. I think what I have seen here is normal and all in fun compared to what I have seen in other forums.

Yes. Some stans get mad even if you laugh at their fave. If you participate in a stan war in 3 out of the 10000 threads about their fave you are a troll and they will go on a manhunt to get you banned. I don't know where they do that at. It must suck to be so uptight, humorless, and angry 24/7.
