Everyone is saying how Katy's being 27 year old and trying too hard acting like 16 year old teenage girl but did any of you really asked why?
Check out all these articles that keep coming out these days about her parents interviews.
We knew for long time her parents didn't allow her to watch MTV and similar things. But now even worse things keep coming out.Really sick things.
Imagine being teenager and not being able to have some fun and watch and do things most of your friends are doing.Imagine while your friends are having fun and going out you're spending your time in gospel church, probably against your own will.
I think Teenage Dream album has a lot more behind concept than a lot of people think, its not just brainless collection of nothing.
I would say her parents are guilty for her acting today, for her being 27 year old woman acting like teenager, still party hard and I think no one shouldn't really make fun of that nor blame her because she didn't had those days, didn't didn't live up back then. Also one of the reasons she divorced Russell is this,he wants serious marriage relationship but she wants have fun and party.Put yourself in her situation and think about how you would feel and act.
I can understand, where the sources say she couldn't watch TV and could only listen to Gospel Music b/c of her parents. I don't think she got to enjoy her childhood fully, or listen to pop music, or be a teenager really. So she's doing that now.
This makes me understand her as a person and artist more.
also, it's pop music...and we all know the themes of today's pop. Katy is no exception to this rule...especially seeing as she hasn't gone TOO FAR like some other pop females who sing about the same things (not naming names...so don't try and report this )
That's an interesting theory, however her 'teenage' image is ultimately nothing more than a marketing ploy to ensure she connects with the general public.
Katy Perry, a rebel. Teenage Dream, an exhale after years of indoctrination and repression.
I like it.
Teenage Dream, the extrication of an oppressed mind; a call for freedom at the intersection of a hypersexualized society and the constraints of religion. The outcry of a generation ironically imprisoned by their complete freedom, reconditioned into the form of cotton candy and bubblegum synths
I'm not even a Katy fan but I agree with this. I felt sorry for her reading those recent articles about her parents.
Hi5! I love all of katy singles and her parents are very strict when it comes to religion. Good for her that she finally breakaway from them though. =)

I agree to a point, I had a similar upbrining and even though I'm 23 I still feel (and look LOL) like I'm 16/17...... I had to hide music when I was younger because it was "secular" lol
So yeah I can see why whe acts like a teen............ dont blame her tho
I'll admit, I'm clearly not Katy's biggest fan, but I do feel a bit bad for her sheltered upbringing. Her parents don't seem like the most tolerant and kind people.

Should you really be calling another artists image a marketing ploy? At least Katy doesn't try to shove her image down anyones throat.
