Cowboy hats and 2012 spectacles will be in fashion when Fox rings in the New Year with a country-themed telecast starring Lauren Alaina and Rodney Atkins, TVLine has learned exclusively.
American Country New Year’s Eve Live (11:00 ET live) will focus on festivities from the Las Vegas strip and New York City’s Times Square; additional performers and a host will be announced soon, according to a Fox spokesperson.
Alaina was runner-up on Idol‘s tenth and most recent season; her latest single, “Georgia Peaches,” is a Top 40 single at country radio, and she’ll join Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan on Aldean’s “My Kinda Party” 2012 Arena Tour when it kicks off in January.

Tune in to CMT this Friday, Jan. 6 at 8:00 a.m. ET/PT to see the exclusive world premiere of Lauren's new video "Georgia Peaches!"
"Making the 'Georgia Peaches' video was a blast. I got to have some of my closest friends in the video. We were laughing and having a good time throughout the night. I love that I was able to have them there," said Alaina on filming the video. "The song just spoke to me when I heard it. I felt like I could have written it myself. I am a proud Georgia Peach!"
"Georgia Peaches" includes cameos by some of Alaina's closest friends, and was filmed at the Sylvan Park Melrose restaurant in Nashville.
This debut will also include a 15-minute special complete with behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and more called CMT Premieres: Lauren Alaina - Georgia Peaches.
In addition to CMT, the video will air on CMT’s 24-hour all music channel, CMT PURE.
