I'm loving this. She's definitely harkening back to the days of 80s beat boy style music with this track, and since Control came out at a time when that style was at its peak that influence will probably be heard on a lot of the tracks. Nice cover.
Doubt she would reveal this as a single, simply because it won't pull in everyone in the "mainstream" audience. If it is, she's very bold.
PLUS: this is NOT the first single. This won't even be on her album. Janet just confirmed it on myspace. This was just a gift for people on her website but the REAL THING is still YET to come!!!

(1) Janet did not say this is the first single off of Twenty Years Old;

(3) It is a throwback to her "Control" days;

this is what I love about Janet, she keeps doing her pop and doesn't change like others pop queens or princess etc.. Madonna changed to dance, Britney to ...dance r&b etc... Janet keeps doing the same

As a surprise for her fans, this song is GREAT! It's good to hear something new from Janet, and I hope this album takes off... I am expecting her to come back strong after Damita Jo's relative failure (only when compared with her other albums- I loved it).
However, I suppose it is just a conspiracy theory, but I have heard that after the Super Bowl incident, which resulted in FCC fines and a banning of MTV from the superbowl, that she will receive no support from any Viacom-owned properties (MTV, VH1, etc...)! Some people have said that a true comeback is not possible- but we will SEE... Here's hoping!

Really interesting but it's probably not true. VH1 Classic plays a Janet video almost everyday.
The song as a cover...well, she didn't bring very much to it. Her vocals are also quite weird, it sounds more like Mike. I expect the album to be good, but I hope this isn't the first single.
