Producer Dorian Moore (aka Doe) tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that Nelly's single 'Tilt Ya Head Back', featuring Christina Aguilera, was meant as a song for Nelly and Britney Spears. He says Spears' label Jive pulled out because the song sounded too urban. Aguilera and Janet Jackson were considered next, and Aguilera landed the song.

I like tilt ya head. I really like the background music, but the lyrics could've been so much.The music video was intresting as well. I wonder if this song is what help sparked X-tina's ambition and ideas for her next CD.

Yet it still managed to chart higher than half (or more) of Britney's singles, hmm...

I think the song could have been better with a different singers voice, Christina did not fit it at all, and a better video. But either way the song was far from good really.

Yet for two artists (Nelly and Aguilera) claimed to be loved by radio stations (and with a way better history on Billboard's Hot 100 than BS) it flopped so much more than every Britney single.

brit's singles only flop because she releases things that are better off in the UK. thats why i'm moving from the US when i'm 18. they have some taste in music instead bratty people here

I don't know about the being too urban, I mean didn't she make a pretty urban video with Snoop but then later decided against it? I'm not sure but I agree with the person who said Christina's voice may not have been right for it. IMO, her voice is/was too strong/thick for it and gave it a kind of unclear/heavy feeling. I think Britney's voice would have been better suited (lighter/softer/breathier) and it might have sounded like something from In The Zone. But hey, 'tis unimportant history now.

Ah yes, I remember the photos of her being carried away because she was injured and since it wasn't re-shot afterwards and just released on radio or single (not sure again) perhaps it was decided to be too urban. I think I remember a thread at the time saying that that is what her label decided.

Oh. I don't know for sure. I know some clips that were finshed of the video were on her last DVD.

I don't know if it was a label decision though...if you think about it the song had been out on radio already for a few weeks and they weren't going to film the rest of the video 8 weeks later after her knee healed - the single was dead by then...and so was the album in fact
