Prophet Blog's 2012 Pop Predictions
Quote:
Last year I finally fulfilled my destiny of becoming the world’s most stunning psychic with my first Pop Predictions post, snatching Miss Cleo’s wig with my iconic insights into the future. Many of them were dead right (Adele’s huge year, K-Pop’s rise, Leona Lewis flopping); some were half-correct (Rihanna had two more #1 singles, but didn’t re-release Loud); and some were totally off the mark (Katy Perry will win a Grammy).
But not including the artists who pushed back/cancelled their comebacks, I did a pretty decent job. For 2012, I vow to achieve an even higher success rate with my predictions of the future, so please take a look at my latest batch of psychic brainwaves below and let me know what you think.
- Ke$ha’s new single and album will reach No. 1, and the album will be well-received by critics
- Nicole Scherzinger will stay flopping
- Lady GaGa will release a new album
- Taylor Swift will release another hugely-successful album
- Taylor Swift’s album will outsell Lady GaGa’s both in the first-week and overall, and it will also do better critically
- Sia will move further into the pop world with more collaborations and songwriting credits
- Hilary Duff’s album plans will be pushed back once again as she spends time with her new baby and auditions for TV roles
- Britney will take the year off professionally, and focus on her relationship with Jason
- Rihanna will continue to build her brand with more big endorsements and ventures outside of music, but will not release another full-length studio album
- Christina Aguilera’s new album will contain the least amount of creative and collaborative input since her debut, and her weight will continue to yo-yo
- Rumors of the original Sugababes reforming will be proven true; the current lineup will stay flopping, but will use the publicity surrounding the original lineup’s comeback to try and successfully relaunch themselves
- Lana Del Rey’s popularity will continue to rise, and she will collaborate with a high-profile artist. She will also be the biggest new female artist of 2012
- Namie Amuro will release another very successful studio album, reaching No. 1 on the Oricon Monthly Charts
- Beyonce will put work before baby, but will shamelessly use the publicity generated from her child to cross-promote her projects
- Avril Lavigne’s will release a new album, and it will outsell Goodbye Lullaby
- T-ara will release their biggest hit single to date
- Ashanti’s new album will tank
- As will Ciara’s
- Janet Jackson will not release a new studio album
- Cher’s new album will produce at least three No. 1 singles on the Billboard Club chart
- Mariah Carey’s new album will do far better than Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel
- Madonna’s comeback will be successful, but will not match any of the success of Lady GaGa’s Born This Way era
- Marina & the Diamonds will flop, and everyone will complain about how underrated she is
- The female hip-hop scene will continue to expand greatly, with Kreayshawn and Iggy Azalea both charting on the Billboard charts
- Justin Bieber’s new album will be the highest-selling from a male artist
- Adele will predictably sweep the major categories at the Grammy Awards, Bon Iver will win Best New Artist, and Bruno Mars will win Best Pop Vocal Album
- Nicki Minaj’s Roman Reloaded album will debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She will remain just as annoying in 2012 as she was in 2011

None of these seem too far off from what I'd imagine. I don't really see Ke$ha's new album being critically acclaimed but we'll see.

Oh yeah, time to quote some post already
Avril Lavigne’s will release a new album, and it will outsell Goodbye Lullaby

A little too obvious with these predictions, but we'll see.

With Kanye West, this is already known.

I'm excited to see what Ke$ha does. Everyone will else will be cool to watch. Hope Britney doesn't get pregnant.

everybody already knows Britney is taking the year off
& everybody knows Rihanna is venturing outside of music next year for Battleship, how is that a prediction?
the Taylor Swift & Nicole Sherzinger stuff is also known already too
& i really dont think Ciara is gonna flop with her new album either there seems to be a LOT more hype for her now & i think her team right now is doing everything perfectly
i love the Prophet though

How is it a total failure? Have you not seen all of the success she's already getting,

I just want to mention that the Prophet Blog remains superior to the lesser pop blogs out there. He may be awfully opinionated, and may yo-yo on who he is a fan of (which is annoying..but alas), but there no other pop blog that offers as much diversity as his. Plus his comedic shade is brilliant.
