This era was full of surprises and not many of them have worked to her advantage. BJAM doesn't have as much religious imagery as Judas but the General public wouldn't buy into it like with Judas.

The era itself was full of surprises yes, but the SONGS (you&i, edgeofglory, marrythenight) were not very shocking. They were good but they were all safe compared to 'ON THE RUN WAY, WERK IT BLACK JESUS!' or 'AS LONG AS IM YOUR HOOOOOKER, BACK UP AND TURN AROUND!' or even 'I WANT YOUR WHISKEY MOUTH ALL OVER MY BLOND SOUTH'
She could have chosen other songs that, lyricly, would have been more shocking. And when the lyrics are shocking so are the visuals
The video would be her as black jesus! The church would order her to be banned and Christians would start protesting her concerts and everything! IF THAT PROMO WORKED FOR MARILYN MANSON IT COULD WORK FOR GAGA
