So it has come to my attention through a series of conversations and observations that female clothing tends to be cheaper and goes on sale more often than male clothing. Now I'm sure the opinion on the forum will be heavily biased, since a large majority of ATRL's member of are the male sex, but I think it'd be interesting to discuss just how much more broke guys are than girls after purchasing one item. [Yes I just bluntly entered an opinion in to my opening statement]. What do you think? Who's spending more out of pocket for less?
It does depend where you shop, but from my experience, clothing for guys is almost always cheaper than clothing for girls.
I've found $5 dollar shirts for guys at Aeropostale, while my sister usually ends up paying 15 to 20 bucks for one blouse. My jeans usually cost around $20 to $25, while my girlfriend's cost $40 from the same place. And that's not even getting into underwear, which is ****ing ridiculous for women.
More women's clothing shops > more competition > more need to discount to stay in business
Men basically overpay more than women, cos there are less male clothing outlets.

Hollister and Aeropostale here seem to have really good deals most of the time, so there. In California they usually cost me like 50 dollars a pair, though, so maybe it's just my small town that gets all the discounts.
My jeans cost around 80 dollars each, and it's not like I'm buying a designer label, but jeans that actaully fit and feel comfortable. While my friend goes around buying jeans for like 20 bucks... So I think most male items are more expensive. Except for shirts.
In my experience clothes for females are more expensive than clothes for males, not the other way around. However, there are sales for females more often than there are for males. At least that's how it seems.
I have never thought of women's clothing being cheaper - I agree with those that have said guys clothing is cheaper. Most mens button down collar shirts are certainly cheaper than blouses. And you can easiy get jeans for guys under $40 (in fact, I have never paid more than $30 for a pair of jeans).
Even at the high end, a high end suit might go for $1500-3000 off the rack (not counting tailored clothing) while a high end dress could easily run $3000+.
Not only is women's clothing cheaper and goes on sale more often, they have more a variety to choose from. I know most H&M's and Forever 21's near me only dedicate like a small corner of their store for men's clothing, compared to like, floors of women's clothing
I tried to find empirical evidence for my statement on-line, but turns out I appear to be wrong, as the women's clothing is generally cheaper online than comparable mens clothing for the same garments.
This from checking Wal-Mart (largest retailer in the world) and Macy's.
