The grandparents of teen pop star Justin Bieber are on the mend after being involved in a single-vehicle car accident, Ontario police said Wednesday.
Bruce Dale suffered minor injuries on Tuesday when the SUV he was driving slipped on a slushy side road and rolled into a ditch northeast of Stratford, Ont., about 150 kilometres west of Toronto, just after 1 p.m., according to Ontario Provincial Police Const. Kees Wijnands.
"They were just driving, not very fast, on the side road, their wheels got into the slush and it just kind of pulled them into the ditch," he said.
The SUV completed a full rotation, flipping sideways until it ended up back on its tires and hitting some shrubs and small trees, Wijnands said.
Dale was taken to the Stratford General Hospital and released the same day, said Wijnands, an officer with the Perth County division of the OPP.
Bieber's grandmother, Diane, was unharmed, he added.
Bieber has not commented on the accident, but his mother, Pattie Mallette, tweeted about it.
"My parents got into a car accident today. They flipped into a ditch & totaled the car but thank God they are alive! My dad has broken ribs. Plz pray 4 him 4 quick healing! Count your blessings & forgive ur parents always. U never know what tomorrow holds!!!" she tweeted on Tuesday night.
