Mayor Bloomberg has selected Lady Gaga as his special guest on New Year’s Eve to push a Waterford Crystal button and drop the ball in Times Square at 11:59 p.m. Each year, Hizzoner chooses a guest to help drop the ball and count down the year’s final minute. Past choices have included Bill and Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, Muhammad Ali and Rudy Giuliani. Lady Gaga will perform on ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2012.”

Lady Gaga is having a really interesting holiday season. First, she debuts a new B-side song called "Stuck on F***** You" as a Christmas gift for fans. Then, word breaks that she's being sued by a former assistant for an astronomical sum of cash and now, she'll be front and center for New York City's famed Times Square New Year's Eve celebrations!

To clarify, this means she's the one who'll push the button to start the enormous Waterford Crystal ball's descent to count down to New Year's Day, 2012. Who better to control a monster crystal ball than Mother Monster, herself? Lady Gaga is already in New York City to perform on ABC's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2012 anyway, so why not take on an even bigger role in the festivities? Good for her!
2011 was an incredible year for Gaga, and it seems she'll be helping everyone ring in 2012 in a really high-profile way. Being chosen to help Mayor Bloomberg drop the Waterford ball is a pretty big deal. A host of other celebrities and dignitaries have held the honor over the years, including Hillary Clinton and Muhammad Ali. Congrats, Lady Gaga! This is the first time I get to see Gaga on TV with my family present without being embarrassed to be watching her... She better not **** it up.
Of course, father will probably make some criticism of her even if she looks and acts like a saint.
I personally don't give a **** what anyone thinks about her. She is who she is and that's what makes her so amazing. I only hope she won't wear some dumb messy outfit cuz when she is on point she is on point but when she's not...
