On a more serious note, I don't know. I'm gonna have to sit down and listen to her music because I've honestly never heard anything of hers yet.

She's the anti-Gaga. There needed to be a balance. People wanted a more natural, simplistic and raw sound after the dance explosion. They wanted someone simple, pure and uncomplicated and Adele fit that model more then anyone else who came out.

How can she be the anti-Gaga if both albums have singles that aren't tailor made for radio. They have more similarities than differences, it's just that Adele's look sits easier with the public so they are more ready and willing to embrace her rather than Gaga

There are plenty of other artists who aren't on the dance train who have a lot of relatable music, so that doesn't explain it.

I was about say. Amy was there way before all that mess happened.

She's the anti-Gaga in terms of sound. Adele's songs are as bare, minimal and naturalistic and safe to say Gaga's songs by and large are not. Their images are different, their looks are different, their material is different, they are polar opposites.

I find Adele slightly overrated. Her music is good, but not THAT good. Just a more mature Taylor Swift with a better voice imo. But she deserves her success, she earned it fairly.

In terms of sound, yes opposites. In terms of sound compared to contemporaries, they are both in their own lane, which is why they are the two most successful artists on the planet. Adele just has more relatable, easy to listen songs which is why she's much more successful. It's also because she doesn't create controversy like Gaga

I don't really like Adele's music but I guess it was exactly the kind of music people wanted to hear.
Her image is important as well, you'll never see her killing herself with all these outrageous crazy costumes and 50 inches high heels like GaGa, Katy, Nicki & Ke$ha are always wearing.
I think the public starts to be desensitized to all the extravaganza...

Because her music is all about break-ups. And we all know there are millions of broken-hearted teenagers all around the world. And why do people say Anti-Gaga? It's not like Gaga's the main pop girl. Can't we say Anti-Rihanna or Anti-Beyonce? I agree however, I am tired of the ****ty costumes and stuff. Adele and Taylor Swift show the other pop girls that all you need to become famous is your talent.

It's obvious that after Gaga dominated with TF(M) era people wanted something that was real, organic and minimalistic hence why Adele is dominating, she's a breath of fresh air. A break from all the "noise" and craziness.
