Country, Oldies, Neil Diamond, and Barbra Streisand. I hate it all with a passion*, but at least it makes them happy everytime I toss a CD from any of those artists to them.
*With exception to some oldies

I really don't think my parents like anything released in the last couple years. I haven't heard my parents sing a recent song in a long tine.

Well....my mom always starts humming along to "Get The Party Started" by Pink when it comes on the radio, except where she says "I'll be shakin' my a** (or how they edit it on the radio, as a-BENZ) but she can still tell it says the a - word.... and she always complains "What is it these days with cursing in songs? It's like they can't express themselves without saying them... It's awful." lol.... and she also likes Hung Up, just cuz she's a disco maniac and loves ABBA, including Gimme Gimme Gimme which Hung Up samples.... other than that...no clue what else
My dad... not really sure, but the other day he was singing along to Everlast "What It's Like" in the car...i couldn't help but laughing...it's so funny seeing your parents listening to the same songs as you and liking them ... and it's actually quite scary too

I always thought my parents were just out of it and new absolutely nothing about the current. Though I may not be entirely wrong, they do have a liking for a few artists and songs. They like anything that reminds them of songs they liked back in their day (70s & 80's).
My Dad: Believe it or not, got me into Mariah Carey. As some of you might know, I didn't care for her at all before TEOM except for a few tracks. He likes most of her A/C friendly tracks but I've witnessed him turn the volume up when tracks like "Dreamlover" and "Don't Forget About Us" came on the radio.
He also likes a few Kelly Clarkson singles, thinks Kanye is a wise man, feels Christina Aguilera will be around for a long time, and has an interesting respect for Madonna (he always liked her early material, it reminds him of when he was young & fun lol.)
Other than a few other artists/song today, my dad feels the music world today is nothing to what it was 20 to 30 years ago and the majority of artists out there, no matter what genre, are manufactured. He also feels that entertainers aren't aren't what they once were and the world of rock music is lacking the substance it once had. He liked alot of Soul, Rock, and the occasional disco hit.
As for my mom, she isn't as involved with pop culture as much as my dad. She likes catchy pop/rock like "Dance Dance" or "Walk Away". She likes James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" and, yes, Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" both ALOT. That's about it. She'd rather listen to her old favorites like Rod Stewart, John Mellencamp (mostly because he looks like my dad lol), Pat Benatar, vintage Madonna, Sheena Easton (both parents feel she was the best vocalist of the 80's, as well as Chaka Khan), and a ton of others.
Both parents loved Abba, which is annoying but hey, they were huge back then.
