In my opinion, she's only iconic for being the first female to explode onto the 21st century pop scene. I believe, it was a race and if Xtina had gotten there first, she would have been just as iconic.

I don't find there was anything iconic about her music. It was that type of pop that radios loved and the public ate up. But just like real candy, too much of it is never a good thing. To me, this explains why she faded after the immense successes of her first two albums.

I do agree, though. Her breakdown is iconic.
Who else can look like this during an intensely public breakdown?

Not to mention giving another infamous/iconic performance at the VMA's and releasing
one of her best albums that set the tone for the future generation of music
involving electronica and dubstep that current pop artists still draw
inspiration from today. And all of this during a breakdown...
only The Legendary Miss Britney Spears.

Right? It's always the Bey stans trying to downplay Britney's status, and it's always the same ones...if it's not Britney, it's Rihanna, always someone else on their mind, never their own fave

Anywho, everything about Britney is iconic, when she was at the top of her game, to the bottom, everything she did was iconic, and everyone was paying attention to it.
