if indeed the updates for TOTGA are true, at #'s 4 and 30, then Capitol made a wise decision, because it goes from these numbers to start the week off in a few hours into all next week, with the gift card season in full swing. Remix or not, she's in a better position now than she was without a remix going into next week.

i can imagine people with free iTunes money floating around buying the original and thinking, "Oh, what the hell, it's cheap." That's probably why it has jumped to #4 throughout the day. A good chunk of people open presents on Xmas EVE, not Xmas day. So the massive downloading could've started as early as last night.
