Some may have expected a #1 position for this song seeing as all other options were out the window, however, I have left my top position on this list for the true best single of 2011. Wish You Were Here however, is my top Avril Lavigne single this year. The acoustics, raw vocals and mega-thump drumbeats give this song an individual feel to it, something the radio has lacked in a long time. So far, WYWH has made minimal impact on the industry but has managed to sell 170,000 copies in the U.S. alone to date, collected 60,000,000 views on Youtube, and is currently sitting at #23 on the HAC radio charts aswell as #80 on Billboard. Not expected after such a flop from 'Smile' but WYWH seems have to a life of its own outside of the Goodbye Lullaby era. For this reason, WYWH is #2 on the best singles of 2011 list, and the best Avril Lavigne single of the year.

Wow. I did not expect a song like this from Rihanna. Yes, I like to nod to Rih-rih every now and again, I use her for social outings and small house parties, but never did I think that a song was so well constructed and slayed any other pop girl to ****ing death, but yes, Rihanna sure did deliver with this single... about time seeing as she released 100 others this year. 'We Found Love' will remain one of her best. The Calvin Harris writing and production mixed with the Rihanna vocal and swagger makes for the best pop song of 2011! Congrats Rih-Rih!
