the bats--- crazy squall of “Run the World (Girls).” Fans freaked out when the latter was released as the first single, and Columbia execs circled the wagons — both always a good sign. A grower, not a shower.
It's funny how Pitchfork kept name dropping GaGa on other artists' reviews, yet never touched anything GaGa did with BTW. I guess some things are better left unsaid.
I don't think Pitchfork could have rightfully reduced the album to ashes with a review; several of their reviewers liked the album. Plus, refusing to review anything is much better shade.
