He was pretty well loved in the UK before the Sean Paul collaboration.
Before that his most popular hits probably were:
Oh Carolina
Mr. Boombastic
In the Summertime
It Wasn't Me
Angel
It wasn't so much his music in general (he's had about 5/6 albums I think) it was probably more his image/stage persona and the infectious nature of his hits that made people remember him. Personally I only like the first three of the above songs and I'm not keen on his personality but I think he can come back. I agree with someone who posted before saying he tried to change his style (I'm not against that) but it didn't seem to work for him. I think big summer 'fun/funny' songs is where his success lies and will be in future but who knows. A personality like his has its moments I think and you have to pick the right times for it when people will be more ready to accept and like it (kind of like Ricky Martin I guess - but Ricky is more versatile.)
