Guess what, pop radio doesn't play Madonna, Cher, Springsteen and Elton.
Beyonce needs to do the same. I guess at the end of the Telephone video, they both rode off into 1978.

I want her to be successful + make those killer songs she used to produce. Thats why I want her next album to be more radio friendly so she can be just as popular with the public as she was during TF/TFM era's.

But I can deal if they'll bring back ABBA.

Anyway, her brand is so damaged... :/
I don't even know if she's going to have another #1 hit. Katy, Adele, Madonna, Christina, Ke$ha and Rihanna will be dominating the airwaves in 2012-2013.

It's hard for me to be like, "Stop empowering people and make ****ty songs" because it makes me feel selfish, you know? No matter what, I think helping people is and will always be better than a number one record. I understand, though. I get the want for more radio-friendly songs. She doesn't have to write ****ty songs. Bad Romance was huge, but it wasn't ****ty. Plus, she could make that speech at the gay rights rally. She doesn't need to mix her music with what she wants to fight for. By doing that, she alienates a lot of people. BTW (the song) alienated a lot of her straight, male fans, for example.

I don't think anyone is saying everything Gaga puts on an album has to be radio ready and begging to smash. I think they're saying don't create an entire album that doesn't have singles that can even sustain it.
Had Gaga put 3 of the 17 tracks that she released from BTW commercial (Well, she kind of put 2 BTW + TEOG), she'd been ok. She could have had 4/5th singles (something like YAI/MTN) and done her "version" of flopping, and the era would have been fine.

I think she will at some point. But the song needs to be something that Top 40 radio and the public will eat up

She needs to recapture that "cool girl you wanna party with" vibe.

Gaga's successful no matter how well her singles do. I honestly do not believe that she's ever going to get all goody-goody with the general public again. Though I feel her gay rights activism is amazing and I'm very proud of her for that, it has labeled her as the "gay popstar". It's no longer cool to like Gaga because she's "gay". She's that guilty pleasure that people love, but will never actually admit to loving. The only artist I can think of that hasn't crossed that kind of line is Rihanna. She's mainstream, yet she's still "cool" and people don't mind publicly admitting that they like her. As much as I hate to say this, Gaga is now in the same category as Justin Bieber when it comes to artists the GP is embarrassed to say they like.

I know what you mean, but...she still, somehow, has the 'pulling' power (kinda), like...she's not irrelevant in the slightest. I think if she comes back with a current, cool song with a sick beat and anthemic chorus, the public will eat it up and she'll get another #1. It's up to her though, if she carries on with the BTW sound on the next album, 80% of the public WILL lose interest.

Was Courtney Love onto something?
Quote:
“She may be doing fine at the moment, but I’m worried about her future. She’s very young, and she’s very talented, but she doesn’t seem to have any female friends. Or any straight guy friends for that matter. Instead, she surrounds herself with this coterie of gay stylists and advisors who’ve turned her into this weird, sexless Barbie doll. I was raised by gay guys myself, and I turned out all right in the end. But you know, you can only pull off this meat-dress act for so long. If she doesn’t watch out she’ll turn into a lonely drag queen. Straight guys just aren’t in to that kind of thing. “

Adele and Katy are both taking breaks.
Madonna is 50.
You're exaggerating the situation.

Yeah I get what you mean 100%, we've just got to hope that she can turn it around...somehow. It's crazy to think that even this time last year Gaga still had that cool, fun, party girl image (minus the Alejandro image, of course)

Ah, I didn't really think about that and that's a good point. I feel like she's afraid to do that. In her mind, you have to go all out and balls to the wall. She feels that if she doesn't allow her activism or her personal beliefs encompass everything she does, it's contrived or fake. I mean, like, for Gaga, she can't just write a song or speak out for equality, she has to do it all. Does that make sense?

It's really not. Her brand has always been geared towards the "Monsters" and that brand is stronger than ever. See book sales, first week sales, Barney's sales, ratings, etc. I mean, popstar brands normally cater to the people who will actually shell out the cash, and in Gaga's case, that's the Monsters. We must accept that #1 hits aren't going to come easy to her... they never have except for when she first started. Some of her biggest hits, as you know, didn't go number one. Let's hope for successful singles instead of #1s first. xD

Adele is taking a break ? I didn't know SFTTR was the last single from 21.
Madonna is collaborating with Martin Solveig, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. Don't underestimate her, she knows the business way better than Gaga does.
I'm sure Katy is going to release another album is 2012. Nicki is releasing another album. Avril is releasing another album.
