Since 1998, Britney has always been able to survive among her peers, even though there isn’t really anyone for her to compete against, since she was the last super-pop star, and is incomparable to all the other female artists in the business sans Madonna. Gaga is basically a non-factor compared to Britney.
Gaga fans are just as dedicated, but not dedicated enough to beat the Queen B. Britney def has the most dedicated.

How was she able to survive? From 2004-early 2008 she was a non factor. Half of Britney's career was her personal life in the tabloids.
