The video is good ,I was expecting a more original video. The song is just OKAY, I'm kinda disappointed ,but I'm sure that they got hot stuff in the jar.I just wanted them to shock me with the first single. Anyway,We will see..

Sorry, but I agree with people who aren't big on the song. The video is cool (I'm pretty sure the guy a lot of you are trying to figure out is Jimi Hendrix), I like all the different artists they are in it (Nirvana, Elvis, Motley Crue, etc.), it's pretty entertaining.
But the song, yeah. Not a big fan of. And YES, I DO understand the connections to "By the Way" (as an ALBUM) that someone made. No, it doesn't sound like "By the Way" the song, but it could EASILY fit on that album. Doesn't sound like much change at all. BUT, I'm still very confident the album will be amazing, with a good mix of new and old chili peppers. Totally looking forward to it.
Video = very good. Song = not bad, but I know(hope) the album will be much better. Plus, especially with the chorus, it just sounds like it belongs on the OC. No thanks. Love the solo though.

You're always trying to find a way to disagree with me nowadays, even if it's not directly so, it depresses me. Believe what you will, but I think this song is more funky than anything to come from By The Way. And yes, I mean the album lol.
To the part I bolded, however...this strikes me as freaky because I actually thought the exact same thing.

Hey now, just because the song mentions 'California', doesn't mean it SHOULD be on the O.C.
However, it is inevitable with the reference in tact.

This isn't directed towards anyone specific, but I love how people bitch about a band sounding different on every album, and then they bitch about a band sounding the same on every album. Yeah, it sounds dumb, but there are plenty of people out there who do that. Trust me, I KNOW.

Ryan, I'm not trying to disagree with you (I rarely post on here anyways, how can you say I have been trying to do so?). For the most part, everyone here praised/likes the song, I'm just disagreeing with the overall consensus. And I'm not disagreeing to disagree, I'm doing it cuz it's my take on the song. Also, I do feel the song could still easily fit on By the Way. It is funkier than a decent amount of those songs, but to me the slower/melodic/more mature vibes sticks out to me over any massive feel of funk.
I didn't think it belonged on the OC purely because it had the word "California" on it. I'm not that simple-minded. Just the overall vibe/mood of the chorus, plus the lyrics (yes, besides the world California), really seem like they'd fit a scene in the show. And to me it's just not fun to think of RHCP being able to fit on such a show.

If anything, I think it would fit in better on Californication. I understand what you're talking about and where you're coming from, but I can't see DC being on By The Way.

For the last couple years, maybe? Maybe you haven't been around lately, but I can think back to as far back as a few years ago that you have disagreed with me on so many things, music or not. It just makes me sad because I always looked up to you and respected you. As a matter of fact, I STILL DO...and I don't like to disagree quite a bit with people I honestly respect. Unless that person is Ke.

I don't really understand I guess. I never really had you in mind when I made my post, I just agreed with Kworb and posted how I felt about the song. And I was saying I somewhat understand what the one person was saying about By the Way.
Plus, it's fine to disagree with people. It'd be boring if people didn't. Plus, I'd rather disagree over things with a person like you cuz I know both parties can understand both sides, and plus we have plenty of views in common anyways. And I mean, we both agree that Stadium Arcadium is gonna most likely kick ass...and will hopefully be a nice little kick in the behind for the rock scene to step it up. Tool, RHCP, (hopefully Incubus somewhat soon), and various others with new stuff this year. Yes.

The video features the band dressed up as various other bands from various time periods. It starts out in black and white, with singer Anthony Kiedis dressed as Elvis Presley. Some of the other bands that the Peppers dress up as are: Ricky Nelson, Nirvana, Funkadelic, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, The Who, Poison, Buddy Holly and the Crickets, and The Misfits. The clip finishes with the Red Hot Chili Peppers as themselves again, with flashbacks to the bands featured earlier in the film.

It's good, but I think they might've taken a page from Bowling for Soup's 1985.

Hey guys,
The song is not their best, but it sounds fun to me. I respect all the opinions, but PLEASE, don't ---- the chorus because it says "California"...
OC sux! ¬¬
