"Music has been cheapened and commercialized in an negative way"
So wait, why did he hop on a Dr Luke track (who else is as aggressively commercial?) then? And not even the original track, but one designed to help a commercialized producer and his commercialized popstar be even more commercial: a remix designed to boost sales and increase rhythmic airplay?

Kanye loves mainstream culture and artists, he says it all the time, I don't think that statement is as broad as it may seem. I believe it was more of a way to back-up why some 'mainstream' artists aren't as heralded for being great artists in comparison to how they have been in the past (which is why he says it in the video)
Edit: In the full video he's talking about how artists like Big Sean and other mainstream acts of now will surpass him (I just watched again lol) - it's sort of taken out of context on it's own (the quote).
