****ING INTERSCOPE!
Im so ready for Nicole to leave Interscope after Killer Love era ends and find a label that actually respects and believes in her talent.
Lets see how Interscope has managed to mess Nicole's solo career up:
-Whatever U Like was a JAM! It was the perfect single for Nicole to step out of the PCD sound. It was more Urban and dark!
They announce it as her first single. The video is GREAT, her performances on SYTYCD and MTV VMA's Pre Show were AMAZING, and just when it started to gain and rise on the radios, they announce that Whatever U Like was just a promo single. And that Baby love was her actual 1st single.
-Baby love was miles different than Whatever U like which got the audience confused as to what direction she was taking with this album. Although i find the song ok, i dont think it was the right song to launch her as a solo act.
-Then after Baby Love fails to have an impact they announce Super Villain as her following single. They randomly release it on iTunes. NO promo. NO adds date.No video. NOTHING! They just leave it there. Instead, they sent Happily Never After to radios.
-For the 4th single, they have a poll on her site for the fans to chose. Puakenikeni is voted for the 4th single. Its also being randomly released on iTunes and again WITHOUT being sent to radios. WITHOUT having a video. WITHOUT promo.
-Then, she's being forced to shelve Her Name Is Nicole, and go back to The Pussycat Dolls to record their 2nd album, in which they include a lot of songs originally for Nicole's solo album.
Including the hits When I Grow Up and I Hate This Part, which ironically werent even considered on her solo album!
-After the Doll Domination era ends, she joins DWTS Season 10, WOWs everyone with her phenomenal dancing every week, and manages to take home the trophy.
During that time, she was all over the news. And was being watch my millions of viewers each week.
-It was the perfect timing to launch a new solo era for her, with her winning DWTS!
She was originally planning to release a song she wrote called Beautiful People, which ended up going to Xtina for the Burlesque soundtrack, and instead she's given the song Nobody Can Change Me, which was recorded and produced AT THE LAST MINUTE! A pretty mediocre song that would have a hard time doing anything for Nicole in the US!
She premieres it on Ryan Seacrest the following day of her victorious win on DWTS. And that was the last we heard for that song. No adds date. No iTunes release. No video. No promo. AGAIN.
-Then SHE FINALLY hooks up with Red One. They record a bunch of songs and Poison is chosen as the lead single for her completely new debut called Killer Love.
A GREAT choice for the 1st single. A fresh new sound for Nicole. Dance music with rock/funk influences. After being a hit in the UK and Ireland, and being randomly released in a few European countries(AGAIN WITH NO PROMO), no word if its gonna be released in the US!
After 3 successful solo singles in the UK, Europe and Australia( Limited promo in Europe with random releases and not an actual single order, and NO promo in Australia)
They decided to go with Right There as her first single in the US.
-Right There, which is probably the only single they actually managed decently cracks the Top 40 and peaks at #39 on BB Hot 100. Her first mediocre hit.
-The album is set to be released August 16th. Right There had just entered the Top 40 a few weeks ago, so she was still hot on the charts. They choose DHYB as the 2nd single which was the greatest choice. It was released on iTunes in August and the adds date was set for late September, to coincide with the premiere of X Factor, where she was announced as a judge.
-Even with a mediocre hit, a judging spot on X factor and quite the buzz surrounding her, they deiced to push back the album to an October release, in order to get better sales since she would be on X Factor.
-DHYB started good on the radios, but then it struggled and stalled. During the release week, it even managed to reach Top 20 on Itunes, debuting at #76 on BB Hot 100.
She gave 3-4 random performances of the song, once in August, one in September, one in October and one in November.
She missed out on opportunities for promo like the MTV VMA'S, the AMA's which would have given the song a big push on the radio and iTunes.
And just when DHYB was starting to rise on the radio and iTunes, and it needed ONE big performance for it to blow up, like The X Factor they announce the album was pushed back even more to a November release.
-NO NEWS on a possible X Factor performance. DHYB falls off the charts, and that was the end of its run.
-The album receives another push back to December 6th and then to a January 2012 release.. No news on a single.
-And now Nicole announces her new single is Pretty, a track produced by Alex Da Kid and written by BabyFace, and performs it on the Semi Finals of The X Factor.
The song receives GREAT feedback, as well as the performance.
Instead of releasing the song the night of the performance, or the day before, the single is STILL not released on Itunes. No news on an adds date. NOTHING!
Everyone keeps mocking Nicole was failing to break America.
The treatment she receives from Interscope is A MESS!
Her label and management are the reason she hasnt blown up in the US!
If Right There was the only single that they actually supported a bit, and it managed to crack the Top 40, it makes me wonder how she would have done if her label was backing her 100% with EVERYTHING!
As i said, im so ready for Nicole to leave the mess that it Interscope, and join a label that respects and acknowledges her HUGE talent and helps her reach the top.
