I'm not really here for those transformers like avatars. It really does look like a 12 year old kid got their kit and just had a ball. I feel when it comes to avatars it's better to have it be understated.

Thanks hun. I've actually been trying to make an avatar from either Traveling and Sakura Drops for the longest, but regardless of how good those vids are, there's no real focus on her in them.

I think they still look good. Sure the font was overused, and the animated part had to be small due to the size limits at the time, but they are well designed, even if they're no longer 'cool'. It would be nice to see more avatars like the ones Matty posted. That's taking avatar design to the next level. But right now I see many people with gifs and icons that aren't even scaled properly.

Current avies that show a lot of effort while not being dated: Sunlighter's & Vin's.

I don't know how the hell they made those, but those avatars are amazing.

I saw those avatars when I clicked the thread and thought those were the ones you were talking about.

I swear the word, "Iconic" gets thrown around here more often than a hooker on the boulevard ....and no one actually knows what it means...
