Right now i really don't mind, as you say K$ will not hang up there for too much time, hopefully TOTGA can stay stable at #6-8 for a while after K$ falls, it will probably be top 5 in BB hot 100 for the next two weeks, and i'm happy with my #4 peak
As much as I need/would love new Katy music, doing a rerelease would be stupid.
She needs a couple months off, she should drop the first single from her 3rd album in May and have another summer anthem again.
No need to overexpose her ala Gaga & Rihanna and do a pointless rerelease when she should be focusing on slaughtering lives with her next album.

But in part i agree with what you said, except that i would like the 1st single in late 2012. I don't think i can resist over a year without Katy there

the only problem is airplay is so hard to climb late in the year with Christmas music, if Katy doesn't do a re-release at the beginning of 2012, then the first single for a new album would either have to be the beginning or ending of summer 2012, or the beginning of 2013.
