The hype has become overbearing for many, so I guess I can see why people don't like them, but seriously, "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" is a pretty damn catchy song so it shall be no surprise when it becomes a hit here.

I don't like them because they're overhyped. I just don't think they're that great. IBYLGOTDF is a good song though. Like I may buy their CD but I was just expecting too much a guess. I dig them though I just need to hear the rest of the CD.

May I just ask what type of music the Artic Monkeys are.. who are they compared to as being similar?

Their album is great, not fantastic f--k me over the top brilliant like it's being hailed.
I actually think the Subways album is a far more consistent record out of the UK right now.

But Monkeys are a hoot! Like 'em alot.

I like Arctic Monkeys, the album is not a "masterpiece" but I think it's great!
and James Blunt is a thousand times better than sugababes and Girls Aloud

I listened to the album "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" and I found most of the songs to sound the same. I sense something missing in Arctic Monkeys' music that happens to be in the music of Blink-182 and Bad Religion. That thing might be magic melody or pop factor. My favorite song from the album is "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" for no particular reason. I guess Arctic Monkeys doesn't make my type of rock music.

Just because they are extremely popular and resemble a similar style in music, you cannot make that comparison.

The Sex Pistols weren't about huge sales and hype, they were about social commentary.
They were about being outspoken to the government when Margaret Thatcher f--ed up the British economy huge by only being able to afford 3-day working weeks. It was about speaking the mind. It wasn't about "whos the next best British import".
