Well, I mean, how do people relate to Alejandro? It's some random name.
Half of the lines in Paparazzi the public probably couldn't even understand, since they seemed to make zero sense.
Marry The Night doesn't have problems lyrically, I think it's that the fast pace of the chorus and the loud (somewhat rock) influenced production is turning off radio.
Sound is more important than lyrics. (See S&M's super sexualized and un-radio friendly lyrics on a classic pop beat.)

Agreed. Sometimes less is more, especially when you're releasing singles so closely together. She could have created even more hype by not doing as many appearances/promo as she did, causing shows to want to book her even more. Creating this false sense of exclusivity could have helped. Either way, I've lost track of her performances this era, and that's something that didn't happen during TF/TFM.

Agreed while MTN is a beautiful song that bridge is like WTF to an average listener... But bitch don't currr

Wrong, wrong, and again... Wrong.
No such thing as "promotional overload".... Like wtf? Is she not suppose to appear on Ellen to try and sell her album, just because she runs the "risk" of promotion overload?
Production overload, well this is arguable.
Theatrics, almost "try hard".... LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
Meat Dress, Lobster on the head, wearing kermit and so on... I mean... Shes just being "gaga".

Did I say they liked the song?
Evidently not, because I referred to the production as being too heavy during the chorus.

Wearing a corpse on her head? Showing up as a man?
Lobsters don't even compare, and the meat dress was her last big image before heading into the BTW era.

I know, gurl. I respect your opinion
Anyway, I'm not here for more meltdowns, so I prefer talking (again) about which song is better

She made Katy Perry look like a fool at the VMA's. If you're upset about her dressing as a man then Idk what to tell you lol.

No my friend... Get it right,
YOU'RE tired of her doing these things. Its not that shes trying too hard this time around, or that shes doing anything different. Shes just that weird ****ing bitch we all fell in "love" with. Shes just the same old "tranny" doing the absolute most 24/7.

Exactyl!
Why do some of the people here get the impression that because they are tired or they don't like something that the general public doesn't like it. Or that others don't?

Honestly the BTW era is suffering mostly because of the single choices imagine btw era laid out like this
1. BTW
2. TEOG
3. ****
4. MTN
She couldve put out almost anything thereafter and have a greater chance of success...

The problem with Born This Way as an album, and one of the reasons that radio and the general public have responded lukewarmly to the album is because of the sound.
A lot of Gaga songs have lyrics that make NO SENSE WHAT SO EVER to someone that doesn't obsess over her like we do. So it can't be the lyrics. Though a lot of the songs just come off as unpleasant to hear.
The screaming in Americano. She screams towards the end of Marry The Night. Judas; the accent she put on the vocals (though I like them...). Overproduced sound in HML. Born This Way was plagued by Express Yourself + the Gay stuff. It was fine, perhaps not the best possible song as a lead single in regards to commercial sales and radio longevity, but definitely the best for cultural impact. Bloody Mary would suffer the same fate as Judas even if Judas wasn't released. There was nothing wrong with The Edge of Glory except for timing and the video. You and I was a good twist but it was timed incorrectly as well. Scheisse's biggest issue is the title and the gibberish. Though Bad Romance has gibberish, it's maybe 10 seconds not almost the first full minute. There's a difference.
I could go on, but you guys get the point.
We, as fans, as a whole at least, pretty much love this "sound," but we're the extremes just like the people who say everything Gaga does is trash.

She's still COMMERCIAL, people are throwing that word around way too easily. If she weren't, the album wouldn't have shifted 8m+ copies.
Her singles need to be more tailored for radio however.
|
But she has lost A LOT of her digital power.
